ADDED: 7/28/2010 at 2:25 AM
The Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and the Dutch aid agency SNV have been tackling the problems of dangerous cooking practices and untreated animal waste. Using biogas digesters to convert the waste into clean, reliable energy for cooking has also reduced the health and environmental problems associated with wood fuels. Over 78,000 systems have been installed benefiting more than 390,000 people with CO2 savings of around 167,000 tonnes per year. http://www.ashdenawards.org/winners/MARD10
